While I worked at Newell Rubbermaid, there was an iniative across the R&D group to revamp the cordless window blind and shade operating systems.  Many team members played significant roles with me in undertaking this challenge.

My specific design responsibility was the variable force spring motor.  I developed this design from initial concept, proof of concept, and eventually the final production intent design.  Additionally, I adapted the one-way friction brake assembly module for the premium custom blinds category.

This new operating system was debuted with the 2013 Wood and Faux Wood Blind New Product Launch.  I was the lead engineer on this $43M product category. In addition to on trend finishes and sytles, a major aspect of this product launch was implementing the industry's most comprehensive cordless offerings.  It was projected to bring in $9.5M in additional sales.

The cordless operating system was awarded the following patents:

US Patent: US 9217282 B2

US Patent Application: US 20150028144 A1
